Born With It?

Homosexuality has been passed off in today's society as a lifestyle but . . .

Before I get a thousand e-mails calling me this and that; let me say that I do not advocate hate in any way. This article is not intended to be about "gay bashing" etc. or to promote it in any way. The opinions stated here are in fact, opinions.

Some say that homosexuality is a genetic thing; that some are born with it. Okay, fair enough. I'm no doctor, so I won't argue the point. The assumption that this is somehow a biological occurrence doesn't justify society accepting it as a lifestyle.

First of all, homosexuality is not natural. (This statement seems contradictory to accepting the assumption that some people are born this way; I'll get to that in a moment). This seems pretty plain and simple to me. Two beings of the same gender cannot produce offspring. Two beings of the same gender are not anatomically compatible. Therefore, it seems that those born with these tendencies are afflicted with a disorder.

This is something that should not be ignored or passed off as a lifestyle. This is causing too much confusion in our children. The whole issue, in being accepted as a lifestyle, is encouraging youth to look at sexual preference as more of a choice between one car and another than a natural function. Yet another thing to break down the structures of morality and values.

A disorder is not something to be met with hate and prejudice either. It needs to be met with concern and medical attention. People are born with genetic disorders from more 'minor' ones like counting disorders, attention deficit disorder and seasonal affected disorder all the way up to the tendency to be serial killers. We don't try to pass these disorders off as lifestyles; we try to treat them.

We don't need a special interest group to do this and we don't need to confuse our children any more encouraging them to look at sexual preference as a lifestyle choice that everyone can make or by doing something stupid like forcing the Boy Scouts to accept people with the disorder.
