This month's "Gender Disorientation Disorder" Award goes to the United Way of Central Massachusetts, which became the latest of about two dozen local United Way chapters deciding to withhold funding from the Boy Scouts because they "discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation." In most cases, United Way chapters are standing firm in their commitment to the BSA. However, if you or someone you know is contributing to one of the few wayward UW chapters, take note that most chapters allow contributors to designate their giving for a specific organization. Thus, donors can designate their entire UW gift for the BSA.

Enough is enough already!

As always, the folks at the Federalist are right on target. It seems to me that any thing nowadays that promotes family values and keeping children out of trouble becomes a target of our ever warped society. The Boy Scouts of America, unfortunately, is no exception.

The BSA is one of the greatest things for a young man to become involved in. To keep it that way, to keep it as a positive influence, requires that they institute VALUES into the organization. Sure, words like VALUES, ETHICS, FAMILY, and MORALS are becoming taboo in today's society since the Clinton administration (more on this in a future article) but someone has to hold on to them.

Let's point out that the BSA is a PRIVATE organization and they can make whatever rules they wish. If they want to hold on to values, they can and more power to them! So is it fair that girls and homosexuals be prevented from becoming members? Absolutely!

Children are confused enough as it is. So some people want to make it worse by allowing GIRLS in the BOY Scouts. There is another fine organization just for girls called the GIRL Scouts in case we forget. By the way, you don't hear any outcries to let boys join the brownie troops (as well there shouldn't be.)

So what about homosexuals? Let's backtrack, the Boy Scouts are all about VALUES, ETHICS, FAMILY, and MORALS. Need I say more? You know I will . . .
