Foamy Dog Magazine - Rude People, Buttholes & Lunatics

Some of you who have been playing around in the Rant Forum will probably recognize parts of this commentary; I've been thinking about this and feel that the subject warrants its own article.

First, let's start with some definitions. These are just some I came up with to get the general point across. I'm sure we have readers who can come up with some better definitions and I hope you will share them with us.

Anyway, here's a list to start with:

Rude People: Folks that are ignorant to the fact that others around them exist.

Buttholes: Arrogant rude people. Folks that purposefully ignore the fact that others around them exist.

Lunatics: Arrogant rude people that think everyone should agree with them and think that everyone else is stupid for not doing so.

I have began to notice that the world has a lot more lunatics that I wanted to believe.

Case in point:

Something that really PISSES ME OFF is the way that so many people look down upon others that perform general tasks whether it is a woman who stays at home or whether it is a janitor, housekeeper, waitress or waiter.

Where the HELL and in what handbasket would we be without them?

Some of the finest and smartest people I know have these jobs and I have been noticing lately how badly some that work with them in "higher" positions treat them.

I have news for these people in the so called "higher" positions: those who perform "lowly" tasks are working to put a roof over their head and food on the table just like you are. These people not only have feelings too but they also have families and people who love and care for them -- and you know what? The people who love and care for them will be their no matter what kind of convoluted power trip you go on to make yourself feel superior.

I think that if folks stopped and looked at others as individuals with feelings and took a little responsibility for their own actions, we all might just be a bit more relaxed. Mom always used to say: "What if someone did that to you? How would you feel?" This works on children (or it did on me) so how about we adults step back and gave it a try on ourselves?

I think this might get rid of a lot of that stress we keep hearing about (and suffering from).
